Hausjärvi

Hausjärvi is a municipality of Finland. Its seat is in Oitti.

It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Tavastia Proper region. The municipality has a population of 8,290 and covers an area of 361.98 km² of which 6.52 km² is water. The population density is 22.9 inhabitants per km².

Geographically, and to some extent politically, Hausjärvi is characterized by its three population centres, Hikiä (population 1135), Oitti (population 2416) and Ryttylä (population 1842). The administrative center of the municipality is Oitti, but politically there sometimes emerges debate on which centres should be developed and/or made targets of public investment.

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
