The other two were situated in Pressburg (Bratislava) and Zips (Spiš). The center of this region was Kremnitz (Kremnica), a gold mining city with medieval history and importance for Hungarian kingdom. A number of villages, mostly spread out in the mountainous and hilly areas, were agricultural and developed a special kind of German subculture.
