I removed the phrase "in analogy with the Bayeux Tapestry". The Hastings Embroidery dealt with many events of British history over a period of 900+ years. It uses Applique as its main technique. The Bayeux tapestry deals with one single event and is worked in Crewel embroidery. Therefore I don't think one can speak of an analogy, just a passing resemblance.
