Hasland

Hasland is a suburb in the south-east of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England. Although many local residents refer to it as a village, it expanded greatly during the 20th century and now merges with Chesterfield itself.

The Methodist Church was founded in a cottage on Chapel Lane in 1831 and moved to its present site (on Hampton Street) in 1901.
St. Paul's Church is an Anglican church, and was built in 1850 in the south of Hasland. Before this church was built, most people were baptised, married and buried at St. Mary's and All Saints' Church (also an Anglican church) in Chesterfield town centre.

There are three schools in Hasland: Hasland Infant School, Hasland Junior School and Hasland Hall Community School. Hasland caters for pupils aged 4-16, meaning that there is no sixth form in Hasland. This forces pupils wishing to go into further education to go elsewhere.
Hasland Infant School is situated on Eyre Street East and opened in 1904. The Infant School has recently undergone an extra block. And is now bigger, with a newer nursery part of the school. Hasland Junior School is situated on The Green and Hasland Hall Community School (the secondary school) is on Broomfield Avenue.
Hasland Junior School is set on two sides of a busy road, but building is nearly complete for the new building, which is located on the annex side of the road.
The new building of the Hasland Junior School nearly complete and is set to be finished in the next few months. It will all be built on the same side of the road as Hasland Hall and will have all new facilities.
Hasland Hall Community School is has also started a large development, the site is designed to cater for around 750 students but current attendance is in excess of 900. The older temporary blocks will be removed and a new block of 16 classrooms will be built. Phase one (of two) of the building work was completed in September 2006 and phase two will begin soon.
