Hasilpur

Hasilpur is a city of east central Punjab between Satluj River and the Indian border. At world's map its position is 29°27'N 72° 39'E. 96 km far from its Bahawalpur District this city is situated in the east.

Hasilpur is as old as Bahawalpur. A Dawod potra by named Jogi Khan Ghumrani's son Hasil Khan settled the city with his own name in 1752. In 1900 there were about 347 houses. Water was supplied by wells, and a small market was north to west in the town.Hasil Khan builded a mosque in 1768.

By the time, in 1904 there was a School, Post Office and Police Station in the city. A special Rest House (Dolat Khana) for Nawab Of Bahawalpur Mohammad Sadiq Khan was also here. In old times the crops like indigo and wheat were export to other cities. "Methi" of hasilpur was famous in the disttrict.

Hasilpur is divided into to two parts, "Old Hasilpur" and "Hasilpur Mandi". People of Hasilpur are Punjabi and Siraiki speaking. The population is about 30,000 (in city). Main crops are cotton, sugarcane and wheat. Sheep and cattle are raised for wood and hides. The adjoining towns are Khairpur Tamiwali, Qaimpur, Jamalpur and Chishtian. In 2006 the government sanctioned gas supply to the city.
