Hasan Azizul Huq

Hasan Azizul Huq (Bangla: হাসান আজিজুল হক) is a Bangladeshi writer, notable for his short stories. Professor Huq was born in 1939 at Burdwan district of West Bengal. He was a Professor in the department of philosophy of Rajshahi University. Professor Huq is well known for his experimentations with the language and introducing some modern idioms in his writings. Huq's use of language and symbolism has earned him critical acclaim. His stories explore the psychological depths of human beings as well as portray the lives of the peasants of Bangladesh.
Professor Hasan Azizul Huq has received most of the major literary awards of Bangladesh including the Bangla Academy Award in 1970. On 18th August, 2006 a seminar was arranged by Shiksha Andolan Mancha, Rajshahi unit, on “Secularism, State and Education”. A story was made in Jamati daily, Naya Diganta on the following day based on the seminar. Some uncivilized utterances and threat of life made by the Shibir, the student front of Jamat against Syed Hasan Azizul Haque. Several organizations including Mukto-Mona, a Bengali freethinkers’ forum made protest statement..[1]
