My academic background includes public sector management, computer science, linguistics and literature (I had trouble deciding what I wanted to be). Besides loving traditional music and computers, I'm a pretty avid gardener and bird watcher, and an avid reader of history. Getting interested in reading history has changed my world view substantially. I fudged my way through all my college history courses; anything I know, I figured out later through private reading. Better later than never, I guess.

Originally, I worked quite a lot on the Design_Patterns page; it seems in pretty good shape now (Jan 07).

I also contributed one new page to the English Wikipedia (Unwiederbringlich). I like the book a lot, but it has never become available to English readers, aside from one out-of-print edition which is difficult to obtain nowadays. So, I made the page.

Recently, I've been working on the U S Army 104th Infantry Division page. My father served in the 415th regiment, company F, of this division during World War II. He lived to a ripe old age, and seldom mentioned his experiences in the war. None of what he did say was pleasant. Now that it's too late to ask him anything, I've become very interested in learning what happened. It's a challenge to find good references, but I've had some progress thanks to official U. S. Army histories now beginning to appear on the web.
