this article looks biased. it sounds like his fame was due to his 'bad behaviour', however he was thought to be the best keeper of the world in the 80's.

Fair comment. I've amended. --Dweller 11:00, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Actually, I believe his fame is because of his assault. Who remembers the excellent Argentinian keeper in 1990? Of Belgian keeper Michel Preud'homme? Schumacher, though he was one of the best keepers in the world, is mostly remembered for that 'challenge' on Battiston. --WbDemocrat 00:54, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
I agree that he is best known for 'that' challenge. I am a big fan of football and the only things I knew about him before this article was that a) He was German b) He was a keeper and c) He was involved in a controversial challenge. Also if you look at the article most of it is about the challenge! Cls14 15:43, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm going to edit this page in hopes to make it a little more neutral. It's written as if it's been proven that this tackle was malicious in intent, and that is not clear at all from the video tape and the ref was right at the spot as it occurred, giving him a great vanatage point.

[edit] Relation to Michael Schumacher?

Is he related to Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher? The two have the same surname and they're from the same country. Scott Gall 09:44, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Nah. Schumacher (Michael) said he played goalkeeper because of his namesake though.

Both involved in controversial inciodents, too.
