Harry Moniba

Harry Fumba Moniba (22 October 1937- 24 November 2004) was a politician in Liberia. He was vice-president under Samuel Doe from January 1986 to September 1990 in the National Democratic Party of Liberia and ran for president in 1997. He planned to run in the 2005 Liberian presidential election but was killed in a 2 car accident in Michigan on 24 November, 2004.

Harry Moniba took office officially as Samuel Doe's vice president on 6 January 1986. Moniba was allegedly instrumental in the rigging of the 1985 Liberian presidential election in which President Doe won with 51% of the national vote after ruling the country since a 1980 coup. Moniba fled Monrovia in September 1990 after Prince Johnson deposed the government, beginning the First Liberian Civil War.

Following the end of the first Liberian civil war in 1997, presidential elections were held. Moniba competed under Liberia National Union party and finished in 8th place.
