Harold Jack Bloom

Screenwriter Harold Jack Bloom (1924 - 1999) scored a notable hit with his first major screenplay to the classic Anthony Mann Western “The Naked Spur” in 1953, earning an Oscar nomination in the process.

Apart from the odd film script – and none was odder than “Land of the Pharaohs” in 1956 – most of his career was spent writing for television. He worked on such series as “Bonanza”, “The Man from UNCLE” and, in particular, the TV series of “Twelve O’Clock High”.

One of his last assignments was the well-regarded TV movie “Remembrance of Love” in 1982, a showcase role for Kirk Douglas as a Holocaust survivor.
