Harold Hartshorne

Harold Hartshorne (died February 15, 1961) was an American ice dancer. He won gold medals at the United States Figure Skating Championships in 1937 and 1938 with partner Nettie Prantell. In 1939, with new partner Sandy MacDonald, he won the first of three more golds (while Prantell finished second with her new partner). He also skater with Kathe Mehl.

After his competitive career ended, Hartshorne became a skating judge. He was en route to the World Figure Skating Championships in 1961 when his plane (Sabena Flight 548) crashed near Brussels, Belgium, killing all on board. His wife, Louisa, was also killed in the crash.
