Harnai

Harnai is a small town in the Sibi district of Balochistan province.The name Harnai refers to an influential Hindu personality, Harnam Das, who was living in the area before the partition of India and Pakistan. It is located in the north east of Balochistan province. The town is surrounded by the cities Loralai, Ziarat, Sibi and Quetta.

Harnai is surrounded by imposing hills on all sides. The encircling hills have the resounding names of Khalifat and Zargoon.

Harnai is surrounded by mountainous ranges. The minimum and maximum winter temperature of the area is 5˚C to 20˚C. The summer is extreme in the area and the minimum and maximum temperature falls between 35˚C to 48˚C. Harnai has a fertile rainy season during monsoon time. In general Harnai has a pleasant weather in winter season.

Harnai has a population of about 100,000. The town is dominated by the Tareen tribe of Pashtoon. Tareeno is the language spoken in the area, which is very different in dialect from the Pashto spoken in other parts of the province. The most populous tribes of the town are Abdullani, Khadrani, Aspani, Miani, Shaikh, Wanaichi, Maraizai, Bazani and Paichi etc.
