Harmanec Cave
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Harmanec Cave (Slovak: Harmanecká jaskyňa) is a stalactite cave in central Slovakia. It is located in the Staré Hory Mountains and Kremnica Mountains ranges and close to the Greater Fatra mountains, close to the villages of Harmanec and Dolný Harmanec, around 16 km northwest of Banská Bystrica.
The entrance to the cave has been known since time immemorial. But only in 1932 M. Bacúrik dug out further to the cave. Soon the speleologists discovered other parts of the cave. 720 metres out of the known length of 1500 m have been opened to the public since 1950.
