Harford Jewish Center

Harford Jewish Center - Temple Adas Shalom is a synagogue serving the Jewish community in Harford County, Maryland. The shul is notable for being one of the few Jewish congregations located in predominantly rural/suburban counties of Maryland.

The Harford Hebrew Congregation was founded in February 1955, and it November of that year the congregation purchased its first building at Forest Green - officially changing its name to the Harford Jewish Center. The current HJC building in Havre de Grace, Maryland was dedicated on September 15, 1968. Temple Adas Shalom (Congregation of Peace) was the first synagogue in Harford County history. The congregation celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2005.

The congregation is affiliated to the Union for Reform Judaism. The congregation's senior youth group is affliated to the North American Federation of Temple Youth.

Youth eduction is provided at HJC by the Adolph Nord Religious School for grades Pre-K through 10, and Confirmation class. There is a Junior Youth Group for grades 6-8 and a Senior Youth Group for grades 9-12.
