Hardwire is a comic book villain that appeared in the Malibu Comics Ultraverse series Hardcase.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The man that would become Hardwire received his powers from Rex Mundi and became a hitman for the crimelord, The Operator. Asked by Mundi to kill Hardcase, the Operator offered Hardwire the job. He seriously wounded the Hardcase with a surprise attack, but was unable to kill him due to the ultraheroine Choice's intervention. Later that night, a recovered Hardcase defeated Hardwire by dislocating his shoulders. Hardwire was turned over to the police.

Months later, when Hardcase and Choice set out to invade Aladdin's Groom Lake facility, Aladdin offered Hardwire his freedom in exchange for killing the heroes. Teamed with Headknocker and the Aladdin Assault Squad, Hardwire failed, but he and Headknocker used the opportunity to escape.

Unhappy about his unfinished business with Hardcase, Hardwire sought him out. Hardcase once again defeated him. At that moment the creature NM-E attacked. Hardwire was rendered unconscious by the killing machine, and found by a man calling himself the Genius. The Genius helped Hardwire recover and augmented his abilities, to the point where he would be more than a match for Hardcase.

[edit] Black September

That remained to be seen, as the two never encountered each other again, as the Black September Event changed reality, removing Hardcase to limbo. Hardwire's whereabouts were unknown.

Spoilers end here.

[edit] Powers/Abilities

Hardwire possessed advanced reflexes which allowed him to react faster than an average human being. His primary ability was the projection of molecule thin mono-filament wires from his fingertips, which could cut through nearly anything.
