The Sweet Escape Tour (2007) |
The Harajuku Lovers Tour 2005 was a concert tour in support of Gwen Stefani's first solo album Love. Angel. Music. Baby (2004). The tour featured break dancers, a marching band, pirates, and Stefani's four Harajuku Girls. The openers for this North American tour included the Black Eyed Peas, Ciara, and M.I.A.
Stefani's first solo concert tour coincided with the launch of her Harajuku Lovers line of accessories. Tour performances were documented on her late 2006 Harajuku Lovers Live DVD, which was filmed at her first tour stop in her hometown, Anaheim.

[edit] Reception
The tour received negative reviews from critics. The Seattle Times found that the material used was "eminently forgettable", and reviewers stated that Stefani should have used songs from her work with No Doubt.[1][2] The Detroit News stated that the show focused too much on style and fashion at the expense of performance and noted that "though she makes great dance music…Stefani can't dance".[2] Winnipeg Sun agreed, noting there were three costume changes during the first four songs.[3] Reviewers stated that the Black Eyed Peas, who performed songs including "Pump It", "My Humps", and "Let's Get Retarded",[4] performed better than and upstaged Stefani.[1]
