[edit] List of Happy Tree Friends Deaths in danger of deletion!

The article "List of Happy Tree Friends Deaths" is in danger of deletion! I'm still a newbie here in Wikipedia, so I don't know how to contradict the "Speedy Deletion" template... Can someone either do the "hangon" thing, improve the article OR make a suggestion on how the article's deletion can be avoided? - Vytalibus 05:54, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

It looks like the concerns have been resolved. This secton with the Kill count reslly should be merged together.- Watershipkennel17:00 03 march 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Long List of Characters

could this be made into a seperate page that also had their many deaths?

[edit] Italics

what's up with all the italics in this article?

How very disturbing..

[edit] Poor little guys...

Gotta love this show! I'm just adding some info on its broadcast in Latin America, and polishing the intro a bit, thanks. Kreachure 00:47, 14 August 2005 (UTC)

What's with Toothy being referred to as female in this article? It says he's a guy on the main web site under the chracter description section. (See About the Show -> Characters and scroll down to Toothy to see it refers to him as male. http://happytreefriends.atomfilms.com/about_the_show/characters.html) The creators have also numerously referred to him as and officially called him male where Flaky is undecided. Please review your sources before you edit an article!

==

I noticed that Flaky's gender has been changed time and time again throughout this article, including the character descriptions. I have changed the Character Description entry of Flaky to a neutral statement. DO NOT EDIT FACTS INTO THIS ARTICLE STATING WHETHER FLAKY IS MALE OR FEMALE; Articles must remain neutral, and contain no opinion. This is a public entry, after all.

==

Flaky is a girl. See [1]

And for the hints mentioned in the Question Kenn section mentioned in the main article, here are the links: [2] [3] [4] [5]. The last one isn't as much of a hint as it is an official declaration.

I think it would still be good to note that the authors purposely put her gender in question. [6]. Or maybe they didn't know to begin with, either. Whatever, that he/she and him/her thing is really getting on my nerves. So I'm going to go through and change it. I agree with the other fellow who said that this article reeks of fan fiction. Ugh... I'd like to see a source for where they got their place of origin, as well as the specific species (i.e. calling Cub a "grizzly bear" rather than simply "bear").

Bah... I just saw on the mobile store it has "he" for Flaky. I'll change it back. But I really hate it saying he/she all the time.

More info on the mobile store on the Happy Tree Friends website. Apparently it's run by a third party. They don't understand the background or characters at all. For example, for the Flaky Rowboat [7] it says "Flaky peeps out from his rowboat." Anybody who's seen that episode knows it's not a rowboat, but an inflatable raft. Lifty and Shifty get out the raft to help everyone escape from a desert island that's surrounded by shark infested water. Flaky is not "peeping" out of the raft, but is just standing there. Here's another example from the same episode [8]. The caption says "Giggles feels the squeeze." But Giggles is not getting squeezed; she has a high fever from a jellyfish sting.

I looked around some more on the HTF forums, and it seems that the creators themselves argued about Flaky's gender. Warren Graff and Kenn Navarro always call Flaky a she, and in the past, Rhode Montijo (who drew Flaky) said Flaky was a he. Maybe by now they've reached a consensus. I'm going to see what I can find out.

Alright, I talked to Warren... and it's too confusing of a mess for me to write about formally, so I'm just going to leave it as is for now.

==

I'm here to confirm about Flaky's gender. It was stated on the topic I posted on the HTF forums (which was deleted afterwards probably to stop the debate concerning the topic) that Flaky is a girl. It was stated in the 1st Season TV/DVD commentary by one of the creators. They did that to stop the debates which were happening in the HTF forums in the first place. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vytalibus (talkcontribs) 10:34, 19 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Splendid deaths

I seem to recall Splendid dying in Remains to be Seen. The episode isn't online currently, but I think he was in the group Flippy ran over at the beginning (and he may have appeared as a zombie as well). Anyone have a copy with which they can verify this?Virogtheconq 05:04, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

---

It's not Splendid. It's Toothy wearing a costume. If you noticed his tail, you'll see a pillow cover.

Here's a screenshot ---> http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/428/hehehehean2.png... Sorry, I don't know how to show pictures in Wiki, so I have to settle for ImageShack.us :D

[edit] Pictures

for goodness sake! we need pictures! Malomeat 10:16, 26 February 2006 (UTC)Malomeat

I expect it will be hard to find images that don't violate copyright, though. Bodil 19:32, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

There should be pics of at least all the main characters to go along with their bios, possibly changing he format of that section. Also, perhaps there should be brief episode summeries?--Tenka Muteki 04:33, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Pictures are fine. However, adding episode summaries would just consume the space of the article. Besides, I think summaries are only added to shows which have very few episodes (An example is the Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu article). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vytalibus (talkcontribs) 10:38, 19 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] flippies death

if i can remember most sites will tell you flippy has never dead but in happy trails part 2 where him the ant eater, and handy accednetaly flew into the sun in the spaceship. and no offence to the guy who wrote death of splendid but that seems to be toothy in a splended costum

Who is it who keeps removing Flippies' episode counts, death counts and kill counts? They don't seem to have any problem with the other character's counts being there.86.17.163.37 14:31, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fan fiction

Do we really need so many referances to fan fiction? It seems to dominate the article. Especially annoying is the insistance on pairing them off as couples. These are characters whose sole purpose is to be horribly butchered. How can you make a love story out of that, and furthermore, what's the point?! It really takes away from the impact of the article.--Crestville 23:03, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

  • I started the Flippy v.s. Splended Thing -- Damess

[edit] Fan Character List

This could work. I mean with so few real characters and so few episodes a fan section of the article should be made. I mean what's wrong with a little fan fiction. Posted by Defender of Flaky

It's sort of lame? :) And non-enclopedic. I mean, if I changed evey article on the basis of little fantasies I have, there would be some serious - and quite possible libellous - edits made to the Edith Bowman page. I mean, if you get some support for it, go ahead, but it does not belong in with the cannon stuff.--Crestville 00:40, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

I mean a section for it. If the whole thing got changed for one little character it'd be kinda stupid, but a new section wouldn't be that bad. And it wouldn't be with the cannon stuff (I just figured out what that meant five hours ago) --Defender of Flaky 19:54, 8 June 2006 (EST)

Might I suggest a Happy Tree Friends Wiki, like Homestar Runner's www.hrwiki.org? I'm have a bizarre facination with this series, though I'm not a fan, so I wouldn't be much help, but it seems like a perfect solution.--Tenka Muteki 07:31, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] =

Happy Tree Friends, despite the numerous sections of its article, would lack information as a Wiki itself. That's what I think. -- Vytalibus 18:40, 19 February 2007 (EST)

[edit] TV Series

Okay, Comic-Con has come and gone. Does anyone have any info on how the sneak preview of the TV series turned out? --Tenka Muteki 02:57, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

We know what the names for the episode at Comic-Con are? Awesome!

[edit] Link creep...

This article has way too many links in it. I'm taking some of them off. Moral, moral, North America, North American... ANYONE whose primary language is English and is older than the age of 3 should know what a yellow rabbit is... Abby724 17:53, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merging deaths with their character sections.

The contents is way too long... I say merge the character sections with their deaths. Abby724 19:15, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm against merging them. The spoilers should be at the bottom of the page. A cute little newbie would just be looking at info about their favourite character, and then see all the ways they die before they find out themselves. Maybe there could be a seperate article for the deaths...? ~220.236.234.237 9:14, 17 August 2006

  • Personally I feel that the character deaths, being major spoilers, shouldn't be featured at all. After all, half of the fun of Happy Tree Friends is finding out how characters die. The other half is watching it again. Episodes are less than 3 minutes long. It's not like watching a 2-hour movie. If there is no objection I will do so myself, in a week's time. 86.17.163.37 23:44, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kill Count/Death Count

I suggest replacing the method of character deaths with a simple Kill Count and Death Count. Since those who do not die are generally the killers, this should indicate how frequently they appear. I will do so myself when I remove the methods of death.
I also feel that all characters should have a Kill Count. Although some characters have a lower Kill Count than others, they still often end up drawing blood - like Disco Bear and Pop. 86.17.163.37 23:44, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Character ages

Characters each have their own distinct personality and traits. Most of the Happy Tree Friends are very young--the children such as Cuddles, Flaky, Giggles, Handy, Lifty, Mime, Nutty, Petunia, Shifty, Sniffles and Toothy look to be between four to eight years old. Some, such as Russell, are teenagers. Adults such as Disco Bear, Flippy, Lumpy, The Mole, and Pop are anywhere between twenty to fifty-five years old.

Where did this information come from? The official website notes that there are only two adult characters, one of which is Giggle's mom. The other is obviously Pop. See [9].

Some of the guesses seemed reasonable, so I tried to find out how old that page was, in case it was written before some of the characters were introduced. The latest archive.org page for happytreefriends.com [10] does not have Giggle's Episode Guide in it, so I assume it was written sometime within the last year.

I think the best thing to do would probably describe features that would hint at their age instead of guessing at it.

Petunia works as a fry cook, so I doubt she's in single-digets. Her and Giggles seem to be more like teenagers. Lifty and Shifty both had driver's licences when they stole Handy's car. Russel's 5 o'clock shadow was too thick to be a teenager. DeathWeed 06:31, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

For Merging

  • Abby724 19:15, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Against Merging

  • Muffin (Guest) 9:14, 17 August 2006

I agree with you on the character ages. Also with the guessing of the states where they come from... it isn't confirmed. This article is kind of screwy, I think.. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 220.236.234.237 (talk • contribs) 15 September 2006.

  • Flippy is a war veteran so he's probably an adult too. But really, I think most of the time the character's ages alter depending on the episode they appear in - Petunia may work as a fry cook, but she also makes lemon-squeezed lemonade, hardly a grown-up activity. Ages are probably a bad idea unless it's been confirmed that they're adults, like in Pop and Lumpy's cases.86.17.163.37 14:29, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Copyediting

I copyedited the page down to the Mole entry, and moved the copyedit notice there to mark it. Kat, Queen of Typos 00:49, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

I ce'd The Mole, Nutty, and Petunia. The Petunia section is done, but the other two still need work, so I am leaving the tag be.--Daedalus275

[edit] Comment on the huge hugeness

Someone who has never seen this show before would not want to read an article of this length. I think much of the content should be moved to separate pages, and the article should be made succinct. The content on the characters, for instance, deserves its own page. The hugeness of it at present is overwhelming. Rintrah 15:49, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

I agree. I also feel that the methods of character deaths aren't really necessary and could be shortened to kill counts and death counts. 86.17.163.37 14:30, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Episode summaries and episode-specific death descriptions could be collected in a separate "List of Happy Tree Friends episodes" article using Template:Episode list. Tony Myers 17:53, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Ditto. All the information on HTF here is wonderful, but it needs to be split into more easily digestible chunks. A lot of these sections can and should be split into their own articles with links from this page. - Fearless Son 02:00, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Concur with the above. Especially Rintrah, each character should have his/her own article.--Orthologist 20:40, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Death methods should be included in Kill list or the other way around. Would make it easier to those devoted to the show for reference. I agree with the separate page for characters.watershipkennel 16:30, 03 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Who Is Cleany ?

Can somebody tell me who is cleany. cause on the voice list it says "Cleany" -- Damess

Been corrected.....Watershipkennel 16:30 03 march 2007

[edit] Buddist Monkey

Whoever took Buddist Monkey out of the Main Character List put him back in. He is a character with a definite personality, Voice Actor and episodes dedicated to him. He should be in it, even if he's only had 2 episodes. 86.17.163.37 12:34, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] replay

I just read the list that counts Lumpy's kills and realized it could use a revision, it's listing some episodes twise, such as happy trails. It's also possible this error is present in others lists. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 201.211.157.117 (talk) 20:31, 9 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Mime.

Alright, where the f--- is Mime really from? I remmber it was Portland Maine once, then some place in California, now it's Salt Lake City Utah. I placed a "Citation needed" flag beside it because of this. Let's see if some one can prove it.Emevas 05:39, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Of course! These are people's unofficial assumptions. The Happy Tree Friends all come from some random forest somewhere. Not Buffalo, New York. JUST SOME RANDOM FOREST, people.

[edit] The mole survived as a zombie!

i noticed a few times on the article, it says the mole dies during the episode remains to be seen, but if you watch the episode you can see him walking in the opposite direction when flippy blows up, and then again during the credits to confirm his survival. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.151.75.218 (talk) 17:16, 18 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Smoochies Death Counts?

In case you don't know, Smoochies are interactive movies featuring one of the Happy Tree Friends. The movie gives you three choices, all end up with the character dying.

Since there are three choices, would that count as three deaths for the Happy Tree Friend? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vytalibus (talkcontribs) 10:30, 19 February 2007 (UTC).

Yes, because you would reset the smoochie each time and try them all out to see the different deathly demises, silly. ^_^

[edit] Dealing with the problem with list of deaths and list of kills deletion

I'm planning to have characters of Happy Tree Friends have their OWN page and will include the character's kills and deaths. (i.e. Flippy page will have list of his deaths and list of his kills). --Dark paladin x 03:15, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

P.S. I removed the part that said "Happy Tree Friends is very briefly seen in the movie The Good Girl." on culture references. This statement is false until verifiable with a source.

Well, it's true. The show is seen very briefly when Jennifer Aniston's character (Justine) comes home from work. Look at the credits at the end of the movie. "Happy Tree Friends" is mentioned and was provided by Mondo. I had never even seen or heard of this show until I saw it in the movie. Just look at the trivia on IMDb to confirm, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0279113/trivia. -- WiccaIrish 10:14, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Criticisms/Controversy

This page would benefit from a section describing the controversy (whether it is justified or not) that has appeared from this show. Here is just one example.

Ill try an add this in. This may be a great addition, I actually read the article before. Also, I'm going to see how PETA responds to the show.--Dark paladin x 23:56, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Diasambiguation

I don't understand the purpose behind the need for this tag. How exactly are the Happy Tree Friends ambiguous? Can anyone explain this?

CameronB 14:49, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The removal of over half the article

Alright, THIS is not what Wikipedia is about people. The Character deaths, Character kills, Cultural References in Episodes, Spoken English Words in Episodes, Episode Notes, Episode Goofs, and Happy Tree Friends in other media sections were ALL overly trivial information, which we are supposed to avoid. A lot of information was merged into List of Happy Tree Friends episodes and the Starrings section's information could already be found out List of Happy Tree Friends characters. I'll be watching this article carefully in the next few days, and will seek out mediation if a revert war occurs, but trust me, I'm right here. Please continue to improve the article, but stay focused and avoid trivial matters.--SeizureDog 14:21, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
