Hansadutta das

Hansadutta das (formerly known as Hans Kary, alias Jack London) was born in Brunswick, Germany on May 27, 1941. He was one of the leading disciples of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and formally a guru within the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (commonly known as 'the Hare Krishnas' or ISKCON).

Hansadutta became an initated disciple of Srila Prabhupada in March, 1967[1].

[edit] After Prabhupada's death

After Prabhupada's death, Hansadutta was one of eleven disciples selected to become initiating gurus. As part of the Zonal Acarya system, Hansadutta initiated disciples within Germany, France and Sri Lanka.

In 1980, Hansadutta was arrested[2] for possession of illegal weapons.

In 2003, he suffered a heart attack[3].

On July 8th, 1983, the Governing Body Commission of ISKCON passed a resolution removing Hansadutta from ISKCON[4].

Around 1993, Hansadutta began preforming 'ritvik' initiations outside of ISKCON[5].

On November 3rd, 1998, Hansadutta agreed to a stipulated court judgement that effectively terminated any claims he might have had to being a trustee of the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust.
