Hans Koning (born Hans Koningsberger in Amsterdam), was one of the youngest sergeants in the British World War II Army. In 1951 he came to the United States from Indonesia. He has since been a reporter for The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, the International Herald Tribune, The New York Times, the Groene Amsterdammer, to name a few.
