[edit] Education and early artistic career

Hans-Joachim Roedelius was born in Berlin in 1934. In 1968 he co-founded the music commune known as "Human Being" and co-formed the Berlin Centre for Underground Culture or Zodiak Free Arts Lab in Berlin with conceptual artist Conrad Schnitzler. Roedelius has belonged to such groups as Geräusche , Plus/minus , Per Sonare, Kluster / Cluster , Harmonia , Meeting Point Vienna , Friendly Game , Aquarello and Tempus Transit. He has collaborated with many other composers and performers including Brian Eno and Dieter Moebius. Roedelius has written poems in English and German, some of which he recites on his albums. As a child he acted in films such as reitet für Deutschland / Riding for Germany (1941) and Verklungene Melodie (1938). His solo albums are collections of quiet atmospheric piano pieces, including solos Momenti Felici, duos Pink, Blue and Amber or groups of up to four performers Bastionen Der Liebe - Fortress of Love.
