[edit] Storylines
[edit] Moving In
Hannah moved into the Hunter family's old home with her parents Neville and Suzanne, and brothers Rhys and Josh.
On her first night at the new house she got into an argument with Josh over who should get the biggest bedroom. Their parents decided to let them settle it between themselves, they decided the first one to reach the room would get it. The two siblings ran up the stairs only to find their older brother Rhys had already claimed it because he needed the extra space for when his mate Gilly Roach comes round to the house.
[edit] Making Friends
Hannah had a difficult start on her first day at Hollyoaks Comprehensive as she didn't have any friends and was concerned about fitting in. Hannah didn't want to go in for her second day until she (literally) ran into Nancy Hayton. The two argued over whose fault it was and then decided to become friends because Nancy's friend Nicole Owen was absent from school because she had the chicken pox. She then made friends with Sarah Barnes.
[edit] At War with Josh
Whilst hanging out with Sarah and Nancy her younger brother Josh tried to ask both of her new friends out, only to get turned down.
Then Josh and his cousin Jamie "Fletch" Fletcher tried to scam the school by starting a tour of the Hollyoaks woods to see the Hollyoaks beast. When Hannah found out she saw this as her chance to pull a prank on the boys. So she, Sarah and Nancy pretended to be the "real" Hollyoaks beast. Josh started giving a speech about how he would miss his sister if anything were to happen to him and that he should have been nicer to her. He was to be surprised when he found out it was a joke by the very person he was thinking of at that moment.
Josh and Fletch then got their own back on the girls by doing an interview with them then editing it so they gave funny answers to their questions, then looping it in the school hallway. The girls got him back by stealing his childhood toys and putting them on display. During this war, Hannah eventually found out that her new friend Sarah had been dating her older brother Rhys, which didn't go down too well with Hannah. Hannah and Josh decided to end their war and agreed to a truce.
[edit] Babysitting Grace
A few months later Nancy talked Hannah into babysitting Tony and Mandy Hutchinson's daughter Grace. All seemed well and the girls had some refreshments and listened to music, periodically checking on Grace. Mandy and Tony then came home and Mandy went to check on Grace whilst Tony walked the girls to a cash machine to be paid. Suddenly Mandy came out and screaming to Tony that something was wrong with Grace. Grace was rushed to hospital but died that night due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Hannah was devastated over the death and was further distraught when a grieving Tony tried to blame her, despite it not being either her or Nancy's fault. Tony was looking for answers to his baby's death and rationalized that Nancy wouldn't have done anything to Grace, as Mandy was friends with Nancy's sister Becca Dean. This left Hannah whose family was still fairly new to the village. Hannah's parents managed to calm Tony down and got him to leave, but this didn't make Hannah feel any better. She even ran away in tears from Grace's funeral when she saw Grace being carried inside the church.
[edit] Relationship with John-Paul
Time passed and Hannah eventually started to forgive herself for Grace's death. She then completed her GCSE's and started Sixth form. Hannah fell for her new class mate John-Paul McQueen, but didn't know how to ask him out.
The pair soon got together with help from Sarah and Sarah's new boyfriend Craig Dean, and at first the relationship appeared to be going well. When they eventually had sex, John-Paul realized he didn't want a relationship and broke up with her. Hannah was unaware John-Paul was actually struggling with feelings of homosexuality, and was attempting to conceal it by pretending to be attracted to Sarah. This deception caused problems in Sarah's relationship with Craig and Hannah's friendship with Sarah.
[edit] Suffering from Bulimia
Left alone on New Year's Eve, and convinced that she was undesirable, Hannah began binging and purging to cope with her feelings of rejection. This quickly became a vicious cycle of behaviour as her on-off relationship with John-Paul (and his mood swings) made her increasingly angry and confused. Later, after John-Paul admitted he was gay, Hannah was conviced that she turned him gay. Her eating disorders appear to be part of a continuing storyline.
