[edit] Place of Birth

Sudan, not Egypt

[edit] Date of death

Did he die on May 22 or May 23, 2006? Badagnani 17:35, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

According to the San Francisco Chronicle obit, he died on Monday, May 22. jeff 18:49, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks -- New York Times also had Monday so I assume this is info they got from Hamza El Din's wife and is accurate. I've made the fix. Badagnani 18:54, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Name of wife

I want to make sure we have his wife's name spelled correctly. Several hundred websites each give it as "Nabra" or "Nadra." I believe Nabra may be the accurate one. Also, is it correct that she is Japanese? Badagnani 20:23, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Nadra is Arabic (for "rare", the masculine form of which is Nader, a more common Arabic name); I also believe Nabra is the correct name, since it's a traditional Nubian (Fadekki) female name. M. f. kalfat 12:26, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
in Fadekki Nubian (Nubiin) Nabra means gold ore, or raw gold, and it's also a title of one of his albums.M. f. kalfat 13:05, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
changed my mind. though still for Nabra (with "b"), the one can't really tell: Nabra is also a Japanese female name! and given that Aladdin (aka El Din) met her first in Japan, she might well be Japanese. Did Hamza liked her for that name which must ring a bell in a Nubian expatriate's mind?M. f. kalfat 13:05, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
