I disagree with the speedy deletion of this article. This article deals with much more than the bio of a non-notable person. It deals with a system, a judicial system that may seem no longer just. And this goes way beyond the bio of one single person. Therefore this bio should be expanded in a NPOV way as an example of mandatory sentencing. JoJan 20:15, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

That would be an argument that this case should be expanded and used in the article mandatory sentencing as an example of why some consider the practice unjust. However, I don't see anything in this article that indicates why this particular person should be considered a primary example or a stand alone article since she is but one "example of the many who have been incarcerated due to mandatory sentencing". [edit] I too disagree with this speedy deletion

She is notable, where other individuals in similar situations are not, because her case was chosen as an example by the organization that has taken up her case. -- Geo Swan 21:08, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Seems the article should at least have its day in AfD, if not outright kept; it's much more well-documented than your typical speedy. -GTBacchus(talk) 21:52, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
I removed the speedy tag, per improvement of article and discussion here. -GTBacchus(talk) 22:20, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

With the improvement of this article, it no longer meets my standards for speedy delete either, especially since it now does include an assertion of notability. I don't think she's very notable, but there are far worse articles deserving of AfD than this one right now. Caerwine Caerwhine 22:34, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
