Hamilton Steelers

Hamilton Steelers is the name of three professional soccer teams that have been based in Hamilton, Ontario.

The original Hamilton Steelers (ECPSL) played the first four seasons of Canada's first professional soccer league, the Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League. Their best league finish was 2nd in 1963, and they team finished the cup competition in the semi-finals. The team became the Hamilton Primos following the 1964 season.

In 1983, a Hamilton Steelers (CPSL) team finished the original Canadian Professional Soccer League 2nd, and lost the cup final to the Edmonton Eagles, 2-0.

In 1987 the Hamilton Steelers were a charter member of the newly-formed Canadian Soccer League (CSL) and were locally owned by Mario DiBartolomeo. The club played mainly out of Brian Timmins Stadium (Cap. 4,000) adjacent to Ivor Wynne Stadium. Key members of the Steelers in 1987 were M Jerry Adzic and F Alex Bunbury.

A third incarnation of the Steelers was the Hamilton Steelers (CSL) of the original Canadian Soccer League. The Steelers were runners-up in the first four years of the league's existence as they finished the regular season first in the league's East Division the first two years.
