From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hamilton Grammar School is a comprehensive secondary school serving the town of Hamilton and other areas of South Lanarkshire.

The Hamilton Grammar building was originally built in 1913 for the predecessor school, Hamilton Academy. The building underwent an £8.5 million improvement in 1995. The original building was retained and fully renovated, with an additional building extension attached to rear. The new building contains modern laboratory facilities for the science departments, a state of the art workshop for technical subjects and fully equipped kitchens for the home economics department. In addition to this, a fully fitted fitness suite is incorporated into the basement of the school. Upon its completion in 1996, it was opened by then Leader of the Opposition Tony Blair.

In 2004, an autistic unit was built on the side of the school.
