Hamilton, Mississippi

Hamilton, Mississippi, is a town in Monroe County, Mississippi. It was the original county seat until Monroe County was split with the formation of Lowndes County to the south; the county seat of Monroe County was then moved north to Athens.

Hamilton is located at 33°44′25″N, 88°24′40″W ^GR3. According to the United States Geological Survey, its variant names are Hamilton Farm, Monroe Courthouse, and Old Hamilton.

New Hamilton is located on U.S. Route 45 west of Old Hamilton at 33°44′16″N, 88°26′41″W ^GR3.
