Haltya
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Haltya are Jürgen Sachau and Tommi Sirkiä, a psychedelic trance project from Finland, founded in the mid-nineties. Jurgen has also released under the project name Outolintu, while Tommi has released under the project name Pelinpala. They have also been active under the pseudonyms Justin Space and Frank Further in the more mainstream psytrance project Highpersonic Whomen. Aside from Finland, they have played live gigs in Israel, Austria, Turkey, Russia, Brazil, Romania, Denmark, Australia, Cuba amongst other countries in the world. The music is groovy, blends in unconventional psytrance instruments like guitars & horns and is best described as Funky Forest Trance. Haltya are considered to be one of the few psychedelic originals in the world, and mainstays of the Finnish Suomisaundi.
The name Haltya comes from the Finnish word haltia, which is for elf, or female spirit with wings. It is basically a faerie spirit, although in the old finish mythology haltia can be almost anything. It was believed that a person consists of many spirits, haltias.
