Hallstein Commission

The Hallstein Commission is the European Commission that held office from January 7, 1958 to 1967. It consisted of its president, Walter Hallstein, and the other commissioners. It was the first Commission on the European Economic Community and was succeeded by the Rey Commission, which was the first Commission of the merged European Communities (including the ECSC and Euratom).

The first commission served from January 1 (or January 10) 1958 to January 9, 1962. It had 9 members, 2 from West Germany, France and Italy, one from the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
