The halloween crab, Gecarcinus quadratus or Gercarcinus ruricola (not to be confused with the halloween hermit crab), is a species of crab, from the family Gecarcinidae. They are native to Central America. This crab digs burrows in the rainforests of Central America. It lives in the forest at least some of its adult life.
