Halkirk is a village in central Alberta east of Stettler.

It was named for Halkirk, Scotland.

It is the birthplace of Shane Doan, a Canadian professional ice hockey forward playing in the NHL for the Phoenix Coyotes.

Halkirk has a yearly bull-a-rama in August. After which hundreds of people go party at the brand new beer gardens that was built in the summer of 2006. by the volunteers of the Elks of Halkirk.

The Halkirk Hotel is a finely furbished establishment that provides good quality rooms and serves food.

A brand new post office/ bank is currently under construction and nearing the finish stage.
