Halifax Young Singers

Halifax Young Singers or HYS is a young people's choir that meets at Carlton United Reformed Church every Thursday evening during school term time.

The choir is conducted by Lynn Hudson and the accompanist is Craig Cockerill.

In June 2006 they performed with Richard Fleeshman in the Huddersfield Town Hall.

The singers have recently recorded and released their first CD, a live recording titled Halifax Young Singers...Entertain.

In 2005 the choir visited Germany as part of an exchange with the Gelsenkirchen Kinderchor, performing at venues in Gelsenkirchen and Aachen.

They successfully reached national level in the Music for Youth competition, most recently in 2005 with the Battle and Lament from Geoffrey Kinder's choral work "Seven Ages of Man".
