Halifax Film Company

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Halifax Film is a Canadian media company established by former Salter Street Films executives Michael Donovan[1] and Charles Bishop[2] in 2005. The company has many former employees of Salter and produces television shows such as the satirical comedy This Hour Has 22 Minutes (begun as a Salter Street production), several children's stop-motion series, as well as the daytime drama North/South.

In early April, 2006, the company merged with Decode Entertainment of Toronto to form DHX Media Ltd (TSX: DHX).

Decode was launched in 1997 by four partners; Neil Court[3], Steven DeNure[4], John Delmage[5] and Beth Stevenson[6].

DHX Media's content library now includes 28 titles produced over the last nine years. It has eight children's series currently in first window broadcast on several cable and broadcast networks in North America and internationally. These include Lunar Jim and Poko, produced by Halifax Film at Electropolis Studios - their stop-motion facility on the Halifax waterfront; and Franny’s Feet, The Save-Ums and Naturally, Sadie produced by Decode in Toronto.
