Haley Gone Wild is the 13th episode of the second season of American Dragon: Jake Long.
[edit] Synopsis
This episode opens with Trixie and Spud at a videogame convention called “Vid Game Com.” Spud is very excited about being there. He receives a plastic bag stating “…this is heaven!” But Jake is at home painting self-portraits with his right foot. Because of his parents’ school night no going out rules, Jake is envious and irritated wishing he was at the convention. At the convention, Trixie is mad that she is wearing a costume that Spud talked her into. But Spud states that he is wearing a teen costume. So Trixie decides to leave until she sees a cute boy wearing the same costume as her. Trixie says, “…mmmm…this is heaven” and apologizes to Jake about rubbing it in. Furiously, Jake decides to go to the convention. Therefore, he makes a chi doppelganger and tells the doppelganger to lie down and pretend he is asleep. Then Jake transforms into a dragon, but unexpectedly, Haley knocks on his door to ask for some glue. Jack replies saying he does not have any glue, but curiously, Haley picks the lock and ask why his window was open. While Mr. and Mrs. Long walk into Jake’s room, Haley continues to why the window was open. Mrs. Long sarcastically says, “…yes Jake, where are you going?” And knowing that he is in trouble, Jake states he’s going out to get some more glue. Suddenly, it cuts to the theme song.
Mr. Long installs a teen security system in order to keep Jake from sneaking out of the house. Jake thinks his father is going overboard about this because he might have dragon business late at night. But Mrs. Long said that his grandpa will call her and she would turn off the security system. Mrs. Long says Jake has brought this upon himself and startling Mrs. Long and Jake, the alarm goes off. It snatches Mrs. Long by the ankles and she yells out “…Jonathan!” (Mr. Long). Mr. Long comes and disarms the security system. Momentarily, Haley comes in and brings back the glue. Therefore, Jake gives Haley the silent treatment. But it does not work because she becomes too much of an annoyance. Then Jake says Haley is a “Miss Goody-Two Shoes” who never does anything wrong. Jake continues to call Haley names like “Polly-Perfect and Debbie Do-Good.” Soon, Haley gets irritated and yells to Jake to stop it. She says sometimes she not always good. But Jake tells her to prove it and Haley does. She states sometimes she would watch a television show called “Pooka-Pooka Fun-Fun-Farm,” that their father prohibits she watch ever again. Her dad believes the Pooka puppet is too darn creepy, but Haley really wants to watch it anyway. So she asks Jake if it makes her a horrible person. But Jake laughs at what she had to say and reveals that he has six patented methods on watching show their parent don’t approve on. And he says he would be happy to share his technique with Haley. But Haley says she really shouldn’t because it’s against her nature to get into trouble. But Jake provokes her by saying, “…can I shine up those goody-two shoes for you.” Bravely, Haley says bring on the Pooka. Jake agrees and uses patented method #4.
The next day, Haley goes over to her grandpa’s shop and asks if they need any help cleaning the storage closet. She is sure that the useless things in the closet could go to people in need. Unknowingly, Lao Shi agrees and compliments Haley on her kindness like saying “…not to work to hard because he does not want her to strain her angel wings.” Haley thanks Lao Shi and Fu Dog states “…that little girly girl could do not wrong.” But cunningly, Haley watches “Pooka-Pooka Fun-Fun-Farm” behind Lao Shi and Fu Dog’s back. After finishing watching her show, Haley nervously sneaks back inside her house. She is then startled by Jake. Jake asks “Have fun?” Haley soon panics and feels guilty about going behind her father’s back. Jake tells Haley to calm down, but Haley surprisingly says she has never felt so alive. So she asks Jake for more danger and rule breaking. Jake then uses Haley’s desire to break the rules to his advantage. He tells Haley to hack into the security system in order for Jake to escape and go to the video game convention. Jake states that he definitely likes haley at this point. Trixie wears the costume she despised in the beginning of the episode again in order to impress a boy she likes at the convention. Spud is happy to see that Jake is at the convention with him and mistakenly thinks that Haley is there to expose Jake for coming. Jake tells Spud that Haley is “cool” now and in that case, Spud recommends Haley getting a free plastic goody bag. Then Haley says, “…isn’t that for just holding other free stuff they give away.” Spud is amazed about what’s inside the bag and then says, “…it’s like heaven got a bonus level!” Soon, Haley spots “Pooka-Pooka” and flees away from Jake. Jake agrees with Haley to meet back at the house at midnight. Meanwhile, Trixie’s new crush tells Trixie he has to go home because it’s way past his curfew. Worriedly, he leaves to go home while Trixie is confused.
After the convention, Jake waits on the fire escape for Haley to return home. Eventually, Haley comes and is filled with excitement. On the other hand, Jake was concerned about Haley whereabouts. Haley reveals to Jake that it’s cool to walk on the wild side and that she blew a whole months’ allowance on “Pooka-Pooka” stuff. She tells Jake that it pretty awesome robbing grandpa’s shop on the way home. Haley robbed grandpa’s shop to steal a portable DVD player. She soon threatens Jake that it would be a pretty bad ideal to tell anyone and politely tells him goodnight.
The following day, in the morning, Jake almost exposed where he was last night but quickly saves himself. Unexpectedly, Haley walks in with a new rock and roll delinquent attire. Her mother asks Haley if something is wrong and if Jake knows anything about this. Threateningly, Haley says that she is working on a new oatmeal project about the boy who talks too much. She draws Jake’s face in the oatmeal and shows everyone. Suddenly, she picks up a strong metal hammer and destroys the bowl of oatmeal she drew Jake’s face in it. Her father abruptly spits out his coffee while everyone is covered with oatmeal. Haley leaves for school and states that she will pick up an energy drink and pork rinds on the way and tells her mother to just “butt out.”
Outside at school, while talking to his friends, Jake believes he took Haley too far, too fast and now he does not know how to bring her back. He says if he tells his parents he will never be able to leave his room again. Spud tells Jake what cheers him up. It’s a novelty whistle from the video game convention. Then Trixie explains her predicament to Jake. She said that the boy she was crushing on left so much in a hurry that she didn’t even get his name. All she got from the boy was his “big glove” that came from his costume. Suddenly, Spud reveals that there is only one night of “Vid Game Com.” He suggest to look for the guy in the costume missing a hand to Trixie, but Trixie is in denial thinking he won’t wear the costume again. Unexpectedly, Haley uses her dragon powers for evil such as breathing fire on the ice cream man to steal some ice cream. Then Jake asks “…aren’t you supposed to be in school?” and Haley “dragons’-up” and flies away. Then kids run to around the ice cream truck trying to grab as much ice cream as they can. Then Jake “dragon-up” and follows Haley. Haley arrives at a convenience store where she wrecks a soda machine. She opens the soda, but Jake interrupts Haley; so, Haley tells Jake to “…talk to the can Johnny-No-Fun.” Haley splashes soda on Jake’s face and flies off. She starts to do childish stunts like spray painting a unicorn and prank calling the school nurse saying “…she can’t come to school because of a booger infection.” Jake yells to Haley saying it’s time to go home, but Haley refuses. All of a sudden, they both “dragon-up” and start to fight one another until Haley’s watch goes off. So Haley goes home to watch the “Pooka-Pooka” show. Jake follows her home and sees Haley watching “Pooka-Pooka.” Then Haley tells Jake not to worry because their mother and father are not home. Unexpectedly, the telephone rings and Jake talks to Sun Park, Haley’s dragon sensei and Jake, Trixie, and Spud’s economics teacher. Sun Park is concerned about Haley’s being late for dragon training. In response, Jake says Haley is not feeling herself at this moment. Haley hears Jake and yells stating “…I’m trying to watch ‘Pooka-Pooka’.” So Haley increases the volume in order to hear “Pooka-Pooka.” After listening to “Pooka-Pooka” for a while, Sun Park worryingly tells Jake to get Haley away from television. Jake turns around to get Haley, but she escaped without him knowing where she was going.
Jake goes to Sun Park and she tells Jake that she was really hoping she wasn’t right. Curiously, Jake asks “…what is it…what’s going on?” Sun Park states that in the “Pooka-Pooka” show, that is not a real puppet and that it’s a real Pooka, a powerful magical creature skilled in enchantments who uses songs containing mind-control spells. Sun Park says that we (Jake and herself) just got a small dose of his spell. But, she wonders how much Haley and every other “Pooka-Pooka” fan out there has been getting. Jake wants to tell his grandpa in order to get a potion to switch hypnotized kids to normal. However, Sun Park tells Jake that there is no time and that the Pooka is gathering his troops since Haley is gone. So Jake and Sun Park set off to find the Pooka at the videogame convention. Meanwhile, Trixie tries to forces random boys to try on the costume hand that was left by her crush in order to find the boy she is crushing on. Jake spots Trixie and tells her what has happened to Haley. Spud walks in with full bags filled with free giveaways and asks Jake, “…what about that furry guy over there?” Haley, including other fans, jump onto the stage the Pooka is performing on and wrecks things like the stereo and other electronics. Then Jake tells Spud, Trixie, and Sun Park to come on and follow him. But Spud lags behind because of the heavy bags of free stuff.
Sun Park, the Korean dragon, and Jake both “dragon-up” and Pooka spots them and tells the crowd he is controlling to run to the Subway station. Jake and Sun Park follow Pooka and try to stop him. The kids, all at once, stampede to the Subway. While there, they start smashing and destroying things. They fight, until the Pooka orders the kids to get in the train with him. Therefore, Sun Parks tells Jake to get the Pooka and she will use her meditation training to calm the crowd. Sun Park tells the kids to “…breathe in the light and out the evil puppet man.” Pooka tries to get on the train, but Jake uses his tail to strangle him and tell him it’s the “end of the line.” Suddenly, Haley comes in and says “I’ll (Pooka) protect you master.” Haley “dragons’-up” and tackles Jake onto the train. Pooka realizes he has a very special “Pooka-pet.” While Jake and Haley are fighting on the train, Sun Park tries to calm the kids down, but they throw stuff at her and tell her to “get out of the way.” Pooka betrays his followers and states that “one dragon is worth a thousand of you losers.” The kids start to cry and Pooka cheers for Haley to take Jake down. Haley tail whips Jake out of the train; therefore, Jake flies back to save Haley. Spud sacrifices his free videogame related promotional toys and gives in to the kids in order to get them to stop crying. Pooka commands Haley to finish Jake off. Jake tells Haley to fight Pooka’s brainwashing. But, Haley refuses and Jake “dragons’-down” and calls their parents to tell that Haley and he had escaped from home to go to the video game convention twice, and that Haley was watching the TV show that her dad hates. Their father and mother yell on the phone at Haley and Jake about disobeying them and going behind their backs. Soon, Haley blames the Pooka for getting her in trouble because it’s against her nature. Jake allows Haley to fight the Pooka. Meanwhile, Trixie is shocked to see that the boy she was crushing on at the video game convention was 10 years old. Haley apologizes to Jake about going hostile on him. But Haley admits that it was fun hanging out with her brother. In the end, when Jake and Haley return home, they are both getting grounded by their parents. At the credits, Haley was announcing that Pooka Pooka Fun-Fun Farm was canceled and replaced for a better program, with burping monkeys.
