Haldane's Law
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
J. B. S. Haldane's statement that he suspected that "the Universe is not only queerer than we suppose, but queerer than we can suppose"[1] is sometimes described as Haldane's Law[citation needed] although it is clearly a conjecture and not a law[2]. It should not be confused with Haldane's rule in biology.
Americans, who often use the word "queer" in a specialized way, often express this law as "the Universe is not only stranger than we imagine, but stranger than we can imagine."
