Hala Gorani

Hala Gorani (b. 1 March 1970), is an American anchor/correspondent for CNN International based in the network's headquarters in Atlanta. Previously based at the London bureau, she anchors CNN International's Your World Today along with Jim Clancy. The program is seen on CNN/US from 12-1 p.m. Eastern Time. She also hosts a monthly program on CNN called Inside the Middle East and often reports from the region.

Gorani was born Hala Basha-Gorani in Seattle, Washington, United States, to Syrian parents [1], but was mainly raised in Paris, France. She earned a Bachelor of Science in economics from George Mason University near Washington, D.C. and graduated from the Institut d'études politiques (Sciences Po) in Paris in 1995.

She began her career as a reporter for La Voix du Nord and Agence France-Presse before joining France 3 in 1994. After a stint at Bloomberg Television in London, she joined CNN in 1998.

She speaks English, French and Arabic. When she speaks English, she has a slight, but noticeable, French accent.
