Hal Anderson
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hal Anderson is a Radio DJ for Power 97 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he was born in Picture Butte, Alberta
Popular in the city, Anderson encouraged listeners to vote for him as "The Greatest Canadian" in 2004 as a joke. He placed 34th of 50 people, above William Lyon Mackenzie King, Wilfrid Laurier, Jean Chrétien , Tecumseh and Pam Anderson who finished 51[1] . (He expressed regret after the results were in that he beat out Mr. Dressup.)
Hal also hosts local events in the city of Winnipeg, which include Budweisers Messy Wrestling, Whipped Cream wrestling Tuesday and Big Hal at Big A. He has also claimed to have slept with more women than other DJ hosts in Winnipeg, including Ace Burpee. He also is creating his own video game, called Epic Empire: The Hal Anderson 2006 Version.
Hal also has a Hot Dog Cart business called Big Hals Big Dogs! See him around the city of Winnipeg during the summer months! The Wheeler and Hal Morning show runs from 6-10 am.
The ability of a radio personality to influence public opinion (such as in the CBC's Greatest Canadian Poll) is an example of a weakness of direct democracy. It shows how a sufficiently organized and sizable group can manipulate the results of a Poll or Contest, with or without regard for the purpose of the vote itself
