Hakui, Ishikawa

Hakui (羽咋市; -shi) is a city located in Ishikawa, Japan.
As of 2005, the city has an estimated population of 25,210 and the density of 307.63 persons per km². The total area is 81.95 km² and the mayor of the city is Austin Bonner.
The city was founded on July 1, 1958.
Hakui has made somewhat of a name for itself as the UFO sighting capital of Japan. Cosmo Isle Hakui, a spaceship-shaped building in the center of the city, is home to a UFO and NASA space research museum, as well as theaters, ceremony halls and conference rooms for business use. The building is also home to the Hakui City Division of Lifelong Learning, a branch of the city's board of education.
