Hakuba, Nagano

Hakuba (白馬村; -mura) is a village located in Kitaazumi District, Nagano, Japan.

As of 2003, the village has an estimated population of 9,414 and a density of 51.63 persons per km². The total area is 182.34 km².

It is home to a number of ski resorts and some sightseeing opportunities, many with Buddhist origin. It forms part of the route that used to take salt and other marine products from the coast further inland [1].
