Hakon is a fictional character featured in the Gargoyles. He was the Viking captain who led the assault to Wyvern Castle which resulted in most of the native gargoyle clan being killed during their day-long stone sleep. He was voiced by Clancy Brown.

Hakon enacted the massacre with the help of the castle's Captain of the Guard, who was nevertheless shocked at the killing of so many noble gargoyles. The same night, the leader of the Wyvern Clan, Goliath found his rookery brothers dead and went to settle matters with Hakon. However, Hakon cowardly blamed the Captain for the slaughter, and the Captain furiously tackled the Viking to the ground. The Captain and Hakon struggled until they died by falling into a deep gorge near the castle.

Later, during the Avalon World Tour, Goliath encountered Hakon and the Captain's ghosts trapped inside the Archmage's cave. They were trapped there for over a thousand years (994-1996) and they conspired to create evil illusions in order to lure Goliath into the cave. Once inside, the two ghosts would use the cave's arcane magic to resurrect themselves by stealing Goliath's lifeforce. But the Captain has a change of heart and disrupts the plan, saving Goliath. While the Captain's ghost finally achieves peace and is able to pass over, Hakon's ghost remained trapped in the cave, alone and without anyone to hate.

But Hakon's final cardstrike happens when his ghost returns in the form of a possessed battle axe wielded by Wolf, who is discovered to be Hakon's direct descendant. Together, Wolf and Hakon proved to be a formidable pair, even for the experienced gargoyle duo Goliath and Hudson. But even so, the two gargoyles managed to put Wolf out of battle and his battle axe caused to fall into a car crusher, where it was destroyed. Hakon's spirit lamented losing his revenge as he lost his link to the living world, and faded away forever.
