Local population consists mostly of Podlashuks (or Tutejszy). Though their native language seems to be close to the northern Ukrainian dialects, most Podlashuks do not consider themselves members of any nationality and tend to stay with local identity.

It seems incredible to me. Could anyone provide the 2001 census data for the Hajnówka area? Otherwise it would seem a travestation of parts of the article on Polesie, which is quite a far away from Hajnówka (which lies in Podlasie). Halibutt 20:05, August 3, 2005 (UTC)
