Hadley Field, New Jersey

Hadley Field was in South Plainfield, New Jersey and contained the Nike Missile Battery NY-65. It was the site of the nation's first air mail service. The two magazine Nike missile battery was first manned by Regular Army units and later by the New Jersey National Guard. Nike Hercules missiles were installed in 1961 and the site remained an active air defense installation till around 1970. An office complex and a shopping center now cover the site as Hadley Plaza.
