H (S-train)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

H and H+ are S-Train services in Metropolitan Copenhagen, Denmark. They currently serve Frederikssundbanen and Hareskovbanen. From August 12, 2007, the service patterns will be changed because of DSB's plan Good Trains For Everyone (Danish: Gode Tog Til Alle); H will only serve Frederikssund to Østerport, and H+ will be discontinued altogether.

H is one of the six base lines of the S-Train network, running every twenty minutes all days from about 0500 until 0100. It is supplemented by H+ Monday to Friday from about 0600 until 1900 and Saturdays from 0900 until 1500, doubling the frequency.

[edit] History

H as a service letter was first used in 1972 for a service that was designed to be extended to Hareskovbanen, which is probably the reason why this letter was chosen. The service letter disappeared in the 1979 timetable, but was reinvented in 1989.
