H. Frank Carey High School was constructed in 1956 in the Long Island town of Franklin Square. The school was named after Board of Education President, H. Frank Carey. Carey High School was awarded in 1999-2000 the prestigious award of being a National School of Excellence. The school's principal is currently Mr. Douglas Monaghan. The assistant principals are Ms. Sharon Flynn, Mr. Kenny and Mrs. Loraine Wright.

[edit] Student Government Organization
The school's Student Government (SG) is run in a representative style. Each grade has a Class Board, generally made up of a President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, Historian and several Student Government Representatives (depending on each particular grade). Each Class Board monitors its own funds and activities. The Student Government Representatives, in addition to being active members of their own class board are also required to attend weekly Student Government Meetings. At this time they discuss issues that pertain to the school as a whole, specifically activities that include more than one grade, club or incorporate a community group. Examples of activities that they host are Homecoming, March Jamboree, Spirit Day, Pep Rally and a whole slate of other events. The President, Ali Kaufman and the Advisor, Mrs. Teresa Rolla has the primary responsibility and accountability to the student body of insuring that each function goes according to plan. They are assisted by the other Student Government officers and in most cases an event Chairperson.

Football The football team is coached by Head Coach Matt McLees, Assistant Coaches Tom Aiello, Paul Lamarca and Fred "Cooch" Cuccinello. Carey is in the Nassau Conference II and, after a 7-3 season, are seeded second in their conference. The 2005 season concluded with a Carey trip to their first Conference Championship in over 25 years after defeating their district rivals, Elmont Memorial High School. On 10/14/06 the H. Frank Carey varsity football team defeated their long time rivals, Garden City.

The Model United Nations Debate Team at Carey starts with participation in the 1/2 credit World Issues class, and then upon completion the students become members of the club team. The team goes on many conferences where they debate a wide variety of issues facing the real UN today.

The Carey Students consist of many different students of diverse ethnic, religious, and social groups who mostly get along but sometimes there can be hardships along the way. New campaigns to spread kindness include the warm fuzzy campain where warm fuzzies are passed to people when they look like they are in need. Many people are also replacing negitive words with positive ones. Fatty now is a form of indearment and hater can be used as a positive remark.

- Bruce Arena: Coach of Red Bull New York soccer team. Former coach of United States men's national soccer team at 2002 and 2006 World Cups. Two Major League Soccer championships as coach of D.C. United. Five NCAA soccer championships with the University of Virginia.
Joe Abbenda: Carey High School Teacher, Social Studies was a Mr. America and Mr. Universe 1960-63
Mike Tucci: Actor, played Sonny in "Grease" with John Travolta and in TV show "Diagnosis Murder."
Ron Tunison: Sculptor, Historical Sculptures, does work for Gettysburg National Battlefield as well as other monuments.
