Hōreki

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hōreki (Japanese: 宝暦) was a Japanese era after Kan'en and before Meiwa and spanned from 27 October 1751 to 2 June 1764 (in the Gregorian calendar, from 14 December 1751 to 30 June 1764). Reigning emperors were Momozono and Go-Sakuramachi.

[edit] Change of era

Because of the deaths of the retired Emperor Sakuramachi and of the former shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune (徳川吉宗), the era was changed on the 27th day of the 10th month (old calendar) of Kan'en 4 (1751) to Hōreki (宝暦, "Valuable Calendar/Almanac"?)
