Høng

Høng is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in West Zealand County near the west coast of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 144,59 km², and has a total population of 8.411 (2005). Its mayor is Ingver Jensen.

The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Høng.

Neighboring municipalities are Dianalund and Tornved to the east, Bjergsted to the north, Hvidebæk and Gørlev to the west, and Slagelse to the south.

By January 1, 2007 Høng municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Bjergsted, Gørlev, Hvidebæk, and Kalundborg municipalities to form the new Kalundborg municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 598 km² and a total population of 48,697 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Sjælland ("Zealand Region").
