Gysbert Japiks

Gysbert Japicx (Bolsward, Friesland 1603-1666) was a Frisian writer.
He admired Horace and Ovid and was a defender for the memmentael (mother tongue) which elevated Frisian to a literature language. His poems are included in Fryske rijmlerye (1688) & Friessche tjerne (1640).
