Windel Edwards, otherwise known as Gyptian is a Jamaican reggae singer. Born on October 25th, 1983 in St. Andrews, Jamaica, he started off singing in church. In 2005 he scored two big hits, "Is There A Place" on the Seasons Riddim and "Serious Times". The latter was considered by many people to be the best reggae song in 2005 (beating out Damian Marley's well-received "Welcome To Jamrock").
His style of music is considered Lovers Rock and Roots Reggae, with songs about political issues and love. He is in the same vein of music of established artists Sizzla, Luciano and Beres Hammond.
Gyptian released his first album for VP Records on September 12, 2006.
