I originally became a fan of the Doctor watching Tom Baker on PBS late on Saturday nights. We watched the change to Peter Davidson, then Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy. I was very sad to when it disappeared. (I seem to recall seeing one or two Jon Pertwee episodes in there too, but I'm not positive.)

On one occasion, there was a "special event" and they were going to show An Unearthly Child. We got home early that night, turned the TV on, fixed the antena, and were sitting in front of it in great anticipation. And just as the Doctor approached the door to the TARDIS, our power went out. Really. Complete blackout for days. Had to wait until the episode recently came out on DVD to finally see the episode.

While we were watching the Tom Baker episodes, we talked about my knitting a scarf for my husband, but never got around to it. For Christmas of 2004, I decided to do it as a surprise. I was quite shocked when, a couple months later, I heard that Doctor Who was coming back. Since we live in the metro Detroit area, we were able to watch it on CBC. We missed Rose first time around (heard too late), but watched everything from The End of the World, and then the repeats, and then once again all the way through on the Sci Fi Channel. As of March of 2007, we're still waiting to see The Runaway Bride, but June is looking like a good month.

To keep me from going crazy in anticipation, I started reading the New Series Adventures (Doctor Who). Some books are more difficult to get in the US, but I'm working on it.
