GWR 6959 Class 6984 Owsden Hall

The Great Western Railway steam locomotive, no. 6984 "Owsden Hall" is a 4-6-0 Modifield Hall class locomotive, built in February 1948 at Swindon Works.First and August 1950 shed allocations Hereford. Fitted with BR type piston valves and liners April 1957 but reverted back to WR standard within two years. March 1959 shed allocation Worcester. Last shed allocation Bristol, Barrow Rd.
It was withdrawn from service with British Railways in 1966 and sold for scrap to Woodhams' Scrapyard in Barry. In 1986 it was saved for preservation and moved to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway where restoration work began. The locomotive is still undergoing repairs, and it will be several years yet before it steams again.
