Gwen Davis

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gwen Davis (born May 11, 1936) is an American novelist and poet.

Though she has written a number of bestselling novels, her most famous is Touching, published in 1971. Davis based the story on her real life experience with a psycholanalyst, who encouraged naked analysis. The controversial novel compelled the doctor, Paul Bindrim, to file suit against Davis and her publisher, Doubleday. Davis lost the suit, and was held accountable by her publisher for legal expenses. Though the incident stunted Davis' career, she has continued to write a number of novels and poetry compilations.
